The item records were created from a partial listing of the Whewell papers produced by William J. Ashworth in 1994-1996. These entries were emended by Diana Smith using further information from the Ashworth listing and the index entitled "Report on the papers of William Whewell" compiled by the Royal Commission on Historical Manuscripts in 1973.
