Wixenford, Eversley, Winch[f]ield:- The school has 'bought a newly invented machine called a bowling catapult', with each boy paying about six shillings: this is 'an instrument for teaching a boy how to bat'. [A sketch of the machine is on the first page]. Asks if his mother can send his bat, if she can find it. Glad she has 'got back safely to Ireland'. Sends love to all. They will 'play the Camerons on 6 June then Farmbough on 20 June'. The new boy, Maine, is a 'very nice boy, he seems very happy'. The weather is 'very fine'.
